We support education.

Connecting our members with education is a high priority for our local builders and suppliers.  With a shortage of skilled tradespeople in the building industry, the HBA and its’ members are proud to support the National Association of Home Builders Home Builders Institute – a nationally recognized, credentialed training program to train our future workforce and potentially your future home builder. Locally, HBAS supports community schools’ building trades programs!

Building trades students are also welcome to join Student Chapters, which provide support and networking through events, hands-on experience, and more.

Our Partners

These HBAS members are dedicated to building the future of the trades industry through education, partnership, and experience. With their support, HBAS is able to award scholarships, support Student Chapters, and assist in skilled trades curriculum design throughout the Great Lakes Bay region.

This scholarship is offered to high school and adult Great Lakes Bay area students who are or will be studying residential building and/or related trades.

Applications accepted January through April. Qualifying applicants will be interviewed by a panel of industry professionals. Students will be asked to upload or send in several documents including transcripts, references, and optional project photos, etc.

Student Chapters

The National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter program is dedicated to enriching students’ educational experience, and offers first-hand exposure to the real world of the building industry through membership, educational programming and networking opportunities.

Offered to high schoolers, the Building Construction program at SCC has a curriculum designed by HBAS members, and guided by NAHB to ensure that students are receiving education in all aspects of residential construction.

Delta College offers a wide variety of majors and minors relating to residential construction. From project management to various skilled trades, graduates go on to enjoy fulfilling and successful careers.

Professional Women in Building

The Professional Women in Building Council is dedicated to ensuring the development of curriculum and relationships with local area schools and members. This Council provides the foundation of the HBAS building trades education scholarship.
